Flash Brings Life to Web Designs

by Jay on Jan 25, 2010 at 9:33 AM Filed in Website Development

17 years ago, Jonathan Gay helped pioneer the technology that has helped shape the internet as we know it today. Flash is a favorite tool of web designers to bring websites to life, adding videos, rotating images, and widgets to web pages.

Although Flash is often abused by amateur web designers that get a little carried away, it certainly plays an important role in professional web design. One problem is that websites that are designed strictly in Flash can create search engine indexing problems. This means people may not be able to find your website when they perform a Google search.

Other internet users can experience compatibility issues. For instance, Iphones cannot display Flash applications, and instead it displays an empty box with a question mark. Other internet users have to install Flash before they can experience the applications, creating hurdles for many people who aren't comfortable installing software.

Even with these drawbacks, Flash has its place in professional web design. Just view some of our work to see how we can incorporate Flash into your website.

Yelp Balks on Google

by Jay on Dec 22, 2009 at 11:53 AM Filed in Internet News | Social Networking

According to TechCruch, Yelp recently walked away in the last hour from nearly selling its business profile website to Google over half a billion dollars.

Nearly everyone is aware of Google, or possible Google addict such as myself. Yet, many of you may not be aware of Yelp. Yelp was founded in 2004 and is a local search and business review site. It is a local reviews website that is driven by local consumers that sign up and rate their favorite hole in the wall or businesses in their communities. Yelp uses social networking features to let people write reviews and share their reviews with friends.

New Website Design from 1011 Web

by Jay on Oct 16, 2009 at 4:29 PM Filed in Client News

One word describe the new Splashwear Aquatics site...Awesome!

Several things about this website makes it stand out from typical sites. High resolution images are always great to work with. The images are full of rich colors and appealing textures.

The design of the navigation also breaks norms found on most conventional websites by experimenting with a non-linear nav bar that simulates waves and water patterns. This is a website designed for swimmers of course!

Splashwear Aquatics is a local company in Maumelle, Arkansas that sells swim team equipment and accessories. This website is built on a content management system and includes ecommerce functionality. It also has a swim team login that enables swimmers on registered swim teams to get discounts on their team gear, flash, and an integrated blog.

We've had a lot of positive feedback on this site already, and we're happy to showcase it here. Check out the live site at www.swimmerstuff.com, and let us know what do you think?
