If you haven't noticed, with our new president came a new Official White House website. The new website design below appears to be an extension of the Obama Campaign website. But, what is important here is to recognize how a website design represents a brand image, and how as a business owner you should constantly be aware of how quickly a web design can become dated.

Web design trends are constantly changing. Just notice the look and feel of the new white house website. It has more emphasis on imagery rather than text, such as in the old white house website. This trend towards larger images is a hallmark of the Web 2.0 designs. The new white house web design team has done a great job maintaining a cohesive brand.

Many of our clients came to us with a website already. I like to say, "If your website was built when President Clinton was in office, then it's time for an update." But, time flys, and perhaps I should be saying, "If your website was built in President Bush's first term, then it is time for a redesign."

Many of your customers may have already visited your website before they even walked through your doors. The look and feel of your website is an extension of your store. An unkept / outdated website reveals so much about how you do business. Whether this is true or not is irrelevant. People will judge you, and your website is a major factor. A website makeover every fours years may be about right. Some businesses update their design more often than that depending on their budget.
